November 25, 2025

UK, 25 NOV | British low-cost carrier, Jet2, has announced today that they will be returning flights to Egypt after a 14 year hiatus. The airline ceased operations to Egypt previously on 1 March 2011 due to polticial unrest.

From February 2027, Jet2 will begin operations from various UK cities to Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada. According to UK Airline Schedule Analyst, @SeanM1997, twice weekly flights will launch from Hurghada to Birmingham, London Stansted and Manchester, with a once weekly service to Glasgow. Twice weekly services will also launch from Sharm El-Sheikh to Birmingham, London Stansted and Manchester, with a once weekly service to Edinburgh.

These 14 weekly direct flights are expected to bring in 169,000 new seats to the market within its first year of operation. The announcement follows discussions between Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy and Jet2 Group CEO Steve Heapy during the World Travel Market 2025 in London earlier this month.
