India's Fly91 Launches Operations

March 18, 2024

INDIA, 18 MARCH | Earlier today, a new airline took flight in India- Fly91 for the first time ever connecting Goa and Bengaluru. This marks a key milestone for the airline which has been gearing up for operations since 2023.

Early last year, Fly91 was revealed as a regional carrier that aimed to enhance air connectivity from tier 2 and tier 3 towns across India. The airline soon acquired 2 ATR 72-600 aircraft (VT-FIB and VT-FLY). They were also given their Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) in early March 2024, together with a first set of routes under India's UDAN scheme.

Fly91 too was headlining earlier this month as it was given the iconic IATA code of "IC", which previously was utilised by the now-defunct Indian Airlines. Fly91 CEO Manoj Chacko has also stated that he is staying true his vision by not to purchasing any Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 aircraft in the near future as it would disrupt connectivity to tier 2 and 3 airports which lack infrastructure.

Today, Fly91 has commenced its operations with flights between its Goa base, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Sindhudurg with services to Agatti, Jalagon and Pune in April. Their inaugural service departed today at 7.55am from Goa Manohar airport, bound for Bengaluru, marking a new milestone for Indian aviation.
