ANA Unveils New 787 Business Class At Paris Air Show
June 17, 2025
PARIS, 17 JUN | Japan's largest airline- All Nippon Airways (ANA) today has unveiled their newest Business class product- "THE Room FX" in Safran's booth at the 55th International Paris Airshow. This new seat, which is the world's largest seat in its class on a mid-sized aircraft, will be retrofitted onto the airline's fleet of over 44 Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
This new seat will complement the airline's current "THE Room" seats on their fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft announced in 2019, also developed in partnership with French leading aircraft seat manufacturer Safran Seats and British design company Acumen. "THE Room FX (Future Experience)" will begin flying next year on the airline's major long-haul international flights.
The Business Class seat space has been reconfigured with a combination of design elements: thinner privacy door and walls, curved lines in the backrest area and an alternating front and rear facing seat arrangement. This design optimizes the Boeing 787's cabin, creating a spatial experience comparable to a larger aircraft and achieving a world-class comfort level. Seats are also significantly wider than the current seat, featuring a pre-reclining function that transforms the backrest into a sofa-like configuration, allowing passengers to relax in a variety of positions similar to lounging on a living room sofa. Additionally, the adjustable leg rests allow the sofa-like configuration to be converted into a bed to create a personalized space tailored to individual passenger preferences. Functional improvements also include a 1.4 times larger IFE screen, ample storage space, USB-C and wireless charging facilities and Bluetooth audio connectivity.
Their redesigned B787-9 will seat 203 passengers, with 48 seats in Business in a 1-2-1 configuration- 8 more than the previous configuration.
