PARIS, 18 JUN | South Africa's Airlink has announced today at the Paris Air Show that the airline will be leasing 10 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft from lessor Azzora. The carrier has been a long-time customer of Embraer, operating Embraer aircraft since 2001.
The airline currently operates an all-Embraer fleet, with 28 ERJ-135/140/145, 7 ERJ-170/175 and 35 ERJ-190/195 of the older generation with average age of 11.8 years to 23.4 years.
The new 136 and 124-seat aircraft are expected to achieve fuel savings of up to 29 percent compared to the earlier-generation E195s Airlink currently operates. This will enhance Airlink's economic efficiencies and reduce emissions across its schedule and network which covers 45 destinations in 15 countries, including St Helena Island in the South Atlantic and Madagascar.
